What a week.
A fantastic farewell Usk farmer's market last Saturday. It was a great send off; thanks to all the lovely customers who wished us well and gave us cards (and chocolates!). We'll definitely miss it.
Since last weekend it has been a whirlwind. As news has spread of us moving the phone has not stopped with messages of good luck for the future. Lots of lobbying by customers who have tried to convince us that where they live also happens to be the best place for us to open our retail bakery….
Oh yes the orders… we have had a record breaking week baking thousands and thousands of loaves destined for bread lovers (and freezers) all over the UK. The team have all pulled together to go out on a high and keep the quality and service right until the end. We were still adjusting recipes yesterday to allow for flour variations. We introduced a new slash method on our Sesame Spelt on Monday to help the loaf bloom more consistently, and I couldn't stop fiddling with the steam settings all week to counteract the changing humidity in the bakery.
And now this weekend – on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday – it's our last food festival and it's on our doorstep at Cowbridge.
It would be great to see you there.
